Virginia Coffee

So I’d like to start this blog off with a DISCLAIMER. DC coffee (around foggy bottom) has proven to be AWFUL. If you are reading this and you have some wonderful place in the area for me to try…please, please!! I implore you because… it was the trial and mostly error for me! I very much dislike getting my hopes up, spending the money, only to sip “eh” coffee. UH UH. And around the foggy bottom, they are TAXING YOU. So $7 for okay coffee. NO MA’AM.

So, due to my experiences…I started going to places in Virginia. They have restored my confidence in wonderful coffee shops. If you are ever visiting the DC area…these coffee places are a must!

Idido's Coffee and Social House

First is Idido’s! This is such a warm welcoming coffee shop. Like the owner speaking to everyone who enters, calling out regulars by name, smiling, IT WAS THE ATMOSPHERE!
I was so excited to order. I ordered their caramel macchiato (sweet of course) and then I splurged a little and tried their spinach breakfast savory pastry. YALL! Deep sigh.
That first sip!!! That first bite! My initial thought: SIR! You will have me spending money I don't have!
I was so pleased with everything. I loved this place so much that I brought my parents when they came to visit. My mother's first sip, she closed her eyes and her head shook from left to right. She said this is SO GOOD. At the end of her cup, she opened her eyes and said, UGH, I drank mine too fast. (I ordered her the Hot London tea, oat milk with honey).

Bayou Bakery

Next is the Bayou Bakery! The customer service here was everything! I was on my experimental, so I wanted to try something new. The gentleman at the register was asking me for my likes and dislikes. You could tell they took their craft seriously! They knew what to do. A lady from behind him said you want my honey lavender latte! He looked at me, nodded and said she has mastered the blend where it's not too much of one or the other… So that's what I did. I also ordered a side of beignets with honey butter because the place made me feel like Princess Tiana worked there …so! Everything was absolutely delicious!

Kaldis Social House

Last but not least, Kaldis Social House. This place is so nice, and super cute if you need a workplace space for the day. They are high tech so you take your seat and order from your phone (QR code). I usually don't like this but it was actually nice since I was working. I was able to start my work and they brought it right to me when it was ready. The coffee was good! If you are looking for somewhere where you don't have to really interact with people and need to get work done, this is the place. There was  also a lot of seating for groups too, so group work too!

Okay well that's it for now! I'll keep exploring and letting you know where to go!

With love,

SOS
